Nickelodeon readies Ninja Turtles promotion

Nickelodeon Canada will conduct a street promotion next month in support of its television series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The promotion, developed in association with Walmart Canada, will take the form of an event called the "Street Art Challenge," which will take place in Toronto on April 5. On that day, four local graffiti artists will compete to create a Ninja Turtles-inspired t-shirt design at Yonge-Dundas Square. Video from the event will be posted online, where Canadian consumers will be invited to vote for their favourite. The winning design will be sold as a t-shirt in Walmart stores beginning in the fall. The campaign also includes social media activities.
"By creating unique brand experiences such as the TMNT Street Art Challenge, where we empower fans to have a direct hand in our designs, we hope to enhance the existing connection between consumers and the franchise," said Tanya Visano, senior director of consumer products at Nickelodeon Canada.
Nickelodeon is a subsidiary of Viacom International Media Networks.
