Ubisoft continues Watch Dogs campaign

Video game company Ubisoft Entertainment Canada conducted an online promotion last week in support of its upcoming title Watch Dogs. The promotion was part of a larger campaign making use of a smartphone application called Watch Dogs Live. For 48 hours, users of the application were invited to play the role of hackers and work together to sabotage a gas line and blow up a real car purportedly belonging to a villain from the game.

The promotion was developed by Publicis Montreal. A similar event was conducted in July, when in-game "hackers" caused a cash machine in a Mississauga shopping mall to begin dispensing money to passers-by. The campaign is supported by a website at <http://www.watchdogslive.ca>. Watch Dogs will be released on Nov. 19.
