Institute of Communication Agencies begins talent development initiative

The Toronto-based Institute of Communication Agencies has begun a talent development initiative intended to provide support for workforce retention and performance development efforts in the industry. The initiative's first work is an audit of industry talent development practices, the results of which were released yesterday. According to these results, ICA member agencies showed "a strong resolve to maintain and, in some cases, grow talent development budgets despite challenging economic factors that are keeping budgets in check." These agencies also indicated their intention to use these programs to attract and maintain staff. "The ICA vision to activate a community is to shape best practices on talent development industry-wide," said Suzanne Filiatrault, director of talent development at the institute. "The intention is to provide agency management leadership with the support, inspiration, tools, techniques and strategies they need to ride out short-term performance pressure and deliver more consistently on the organizational talent development strategy they champion for their organization."
