Canadian Hearing Society conducts street promotion
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Hearing Society conducted a street promotion in Toronto yesterday as part of its "Keep on Listening" hearing protection campaign. The effort is aimed at young people at risk of damaging their hearing by listening to excessively loud music on mobile media players. During the initiative, promotional workers distributed 5,000 ear plugs to young people listening to such devices at Yonge-Dundas Square. The plugs were accompanied by a message to the effect that listening to their music at loud volumes will have the same effect on hearing as ear plugs. The campaign was developed by Manifest Communications of Toronto. "Our idea doesn't just tell them something, said Jim Diorio, vice-president of Manifest. "It puts a fun little demonstration right into their hands, so they're more likely to interact with it, share it, and most importantly, remember its message."
