CBC has launched a new website called CBC Music at as well as an accompanying smartphone application. The site is a free digital music service offering 40 web-based radio stations and 14 genre-based discussion groups. It will carry music from approximately 1,000 music companies, as well as original content from various music personalities, concerts, features, blogs and playlists. The service also streams CBC Radio 2 and Radio 3. "CBC Music successfully connects Canadians with music when and how they want it, and provides an unmatched experience for music lovers across the country," said Chris Boyce, executive director of radio and audio at CBC English Services. "As a modern public broadcaster, we're proud to bring this rich digital experience to Canadians, using the knowledge, content and extensive music collection that only CBC can offer."
