Food Banks Canada breaks new campaign

Food Banks Canada of Toronto has begun a new campaign intended to raise awareness of hunger in Canada and its root causes. The campaign also encourages Canadians to take a pledge to "Say No to Hunger" at a website located at SayNoToHunger.ca. The campaign describes the ways in which hunger is a symptom of other issues such as unemployment, illness and child poverty. It also focuses on recommendations developed by Food Banks Canada to reduce hunger nationally. "It's shocking that so many Canadians don't have access to enough food, and in a country with such an abundance of resources like Canada, this is truly unacceptable," says Katharine Schmidt, executive director of Food Banks Canada. "With this campaign, we want to show the impact that hunger has in communities across the country and to inspire the public to join us in finding solutions to this solvable problem."
