MONTREAL GAZETTE EDITOR QUITS

Joan Fraser resigned this week as editor at the Montreal Gazette. The resignation will take effect Sept. 6. Fraser, who held the post for three years, cited management changes at Southam Inc., the Toronto-based chain that owns the Gazette, as her main motive for departing. A successor has not been announced.
