Rogers Communications of Toronto has begun a beta test of a new service called Rogers Live TV that allows customers stream live television channels on an Apple IPad. When the service officially launches early next year, it will offer an initial 20 channels. The company is also preparing a version of the service for Android tablets. "We want to give customers the ultimate flexibility and ensure they're able to watch TV anywhere on any device," said David Purdy, vice-president of video products at Rogers Communications. "Rogers Live TV app is a key component of our vision and lets customers experience live TV on their tablets seamlessly and as part of their current entertainment package. With the adoption of tablets, the mindset that TV shows are watched only on a television set is fading."
