Metroland Media promotes mobile applications

Metroland Media of Toronto has launched 104 smartphone applications for its community and daily newspapers. Each application is available for the IPhone, Blackberry, Android and Windows operating systems. Toyota has signed-on as the sponsor of the application launch and has provided a 2012 Camry LE for a contest promotion. Users who download the application for their local community newspaper can enter the contest from within the program. The applications and contest are being promoted with banner ads on various Metroland community and mobile websites, the Flyerland.ca website various Torstar sites, Metroland listing sites and with search engine advertising. Print advertising in Metroland newspapers is also taking place. "Metroland is committed to developing creative marketing solutions for businesses that leverage both our print and digital assets," said Ian Oliver, president of Metroland Media. "We are very pleased to have Toyota's support for this initiative."
