New North American president, chief operating officer at McCann Erickson

McCann Erickson of New York has appointed Hank Summy to the position of North American president. He will assume management responsibility for regional McCann agencies in the US and Canada. Summy was most recently managing director for the eastern region at SapientNitro. Patrick Lafferty has been promoted to chief operating officer of McCann Erickson North America. He joined the company a year ago as managing director of global brands. Prior to that, he was chief marketing officer of Travel Channel Media. He has also held various senior account director positions at Leo Burnett.
