Class action suit launched against Bell Canada

Montreal law firm Paquette Gadler has filed a motion with the Superior Court of Montreal on behalf of a Monique Charland to institute a class action against Bell Canada for false and misleading advertising as to the price of its services. The class action follows the announcement by Bell this week that it has entered into an agreement with the Canadian Competition Bureau to pay an administrative sanction of $10 million for misleading advertising. The class action alleges that Bell engaged in false and misleading representations concerning the price of its services, particularly by inserting clauses stipulating additional costs in difficult-to-read and difficult-to-find way. The action is open to Canadians who were under contract to Bell Canada between December 2007 and June 2011.
