Mississauga-based automaker Kia Canada will conduct a promotion called "Kia Drive Change Day" on Aug. 21. The effort is intended to highlight the company's commitment to social responsibility. A national advertising campaign began last week to encourage consumers to participate in the initiative. Television commercials invite viewers to visit a website at <http://www.drivechangewithkia.com> to describe a project they will undertake on the day of the promotion. The ads are airing on various Shaw Media properties including Global, History Television, Showcase, HGTV, Food Network, IFC, BBC Canada, ET Canada, Global News and History Television. These channels are also airing segments tied to the promotion featuring the hosts of their programs. The company has also begun a contest, the winner of which will select a charity to receive $25,000. "In an effort to continue to give back and support our local communities we have launched a compelling campaign that celebrates the spirit of our core belief that we can all drive positive change," said Maria Soklis, vice-president and chief operating officer at Kia Canada. "To this end, we are soliciting the support of all Canadians to drive change with Kia."
