NEXTMEDIA SNAGS JUNO AWARDS

NextMedia of Toronto was handed the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences account last week to organize and publicize the 26th annual Juno Awards. The show recognizes excellence in the Canadian music industry. The agency was given the business without a review because of its experience in the music industry with clients such as HMV Canada and BMG Canada. In addition, agency head Nancy Smith has worked with Citytv, MuchMusic, MusiquePlus and the Global Television Network. She has also been business manager for Canadian singer Dalbello. NextMedia writer Martin Melhuish was involved in last year's silver anniversary Juno Awards celebrations and the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame gala. The incumbent on the business was Joanne Smale Productions and freelancer Jane Harbury. The Juno Awards will be held March 9, 1997 in Hamilton, Ont.
