New marketing vice-president at Second Cup

Mississauga-based coffee retail chain Second Cup has appointed Vanda Provato to the position of vice-president of marketing. She will work on the company's plan to update the Second Cup brand through marketing campaigns, public relations, social media activities, community programs and future store design. Provato was most recently marketing vice-president at Indigo Books & Music. Prior to that, she was marketing vice-president at AOL Canada. She has also been a senior marketing manager as Esklar and a group account director at DDB Canada. Provato has also worked at Bensimon Byrne, Bates Canada, Kornblum International and Solway Varvas Seppi.
Chris Sonnen has joined Second Cup as vice-president of operations and coffee experience. He was most recently vice-president of SIR, where he oversaw the Canyon Creek restaurant chain. Prior to that, he was president of Shoeless Joe's and vice-president of operations at Prime Restaurants of Canada. He was previously operations vice-president at Second Cup from 2000 to 2005. He has also worked at HMV Canada.
