Transmitter opens in Toronto

A new social media agency called Transmitter has opened in Toronto. The firm is lead by president Rolf Dinsdale, previously vice-president of social media at Segal Communications. It is operating in association with digital agency Crate to offer a range of online consumer marketing services. The two companies are currently working on a campaign for Darius Films in support of its movie Defendor. The assignment includes a Facebook page, media buying and other promotion in Canada and the US. "Social media has fundamentally changed marketing communications," said Dinsdale. "The Transmitter name and tagline 'The Medium is People'  reflects that change. We've gone from a broadcast model to a viral ecosystem model. We've gone from media consisting of pipes to media consisting of people. Transmitter exists to connect brands with people."
