Mines Action Canada conducts online promotion

Mines Action Canada will conclude a three-day online promotion today in association with Metronews.ca intended to raise awareness of the danger posed by landmines around the world, as well as to raise funds for its Walk Without Fear Foundation. During the promotion, which was planned by Juniper Park, visitors to the Metro website would at first see what appeared to be its normal homepage. However, after a few seconds, an animated explosion effect would seem to leave the site in fragments, with a request for donations appearing in the crater. This is the first time Metro has participated in a promotion of this kind. Media buying was handled by Wills and Co. "It is wonderful to see an organization like Metro, which has such a wide audience and technical capability, reach so many in an interactive way and give Canadians the opportunity to become part of the solution to this grave humanitarian problem," said Tatiana Stephens, landmine and cluster munition monitor project officer at Mines Action Canada.
