H&M conducts second Metro Day promotion

Clothing retailer H&M conducted an in-store promotion called "Metro Day" yesterday in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. The initiative was conducted in association with commuter newspaper Metro. Consumers at participating stores who displayed a copy of the paper or the Metro application on their phone received a 25% discount on the purchase of one item of their choice. The promotion also included advertising in Metro in the six participating cities for three days leading up to the event, as well as online ads on MetroNews.ca, mobile advertising, email communications and social media support. In addition, promotional workers attended the chain's flagship stores in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal yesterday. "Since 2012's inaugural Metro Day at H&M was such a big success, giving our readers, who are big H&M shoppers, yet another reason to love Canada's only freemium daily newspaper and driving them in droves to H&M stores, we knew we wanted to make it happen again," said Jeff Smith, creative and ideation vice-president at Metro.
