Bell Media acquires Gusto

Toronto-based Bell Media has acquired Gusto Worldwide Media of Ottawa, operator of the Gusto TV specialty channel. Bell Media will use the channel and its programming as the basis for its own food and lifestyle channel, which it plans to launch later this year. This will be the company's first food- and cooking-centric channel. It will also carry programs covering home design, fashion, travel and other lifestyle topics. The agreement includes the use of Gusto original programming such as One World Kitchen, A is for Apple, Crate to Plate and Fish the Dish.

"Gusto's unique blend of experiential and creative programming will provide new opportunities to develop dynamic and innovative partnerships with brands, especially those that target both female and millennial viewers," said Darryl Coburn, vice-president of national television sales at Bell Media. "We are looking forward to presenting this entertaining channel to long-time clients as well as new potential advertisers."
