Broadburst Technologies launches Bluetooth system in Toronto

Broadburst Technologies of Toronto has installed a Bluetooth-based content delivery system in downtown Toronto. The system will deliver messages to mobile phones from transmitters located at 40 Gateway newsstand locations in the city's transit system and other areas of high pedestrian traffic. "Our coverage area in downtown Toronto is extremely attractive to advertisers who want to connect directly with mobile phone users as they move through the city," said William Kells, CEO of Broadburst. "By using Broadburst's Network, advertisers can send localized content in an entertaining and informative way to cell phones of potential customers, who can download and enjoy the content free of charge. Broadcasting content via Bluetooth allows advertisers to reach potential customers in the moment, as they are making decisions on products and services at point of purchase." This is the first phase of the company's roll-out. Broadburst hopes to eventually install transmitters at 500 Gateway locations in Canada and the US.
