DESIGN EFFECTIVENESS AWARDS PRESENTED

The Financial Post presented its Design Effectiveness Awards late last month. Rodel Sports Equipment of Toronto walked away with top honors, winning Best of Show for its LaserLuge Snowsled. The Globe and Mail won top prize in the best corporate or brand identities category for the redesign of the newspaper. The new look was designed by Gottschalk + Ash International of Toronto, in conjunction with the editorial department of The Globe. Ed Mirvish Enterprises took home the award for best of retail and entertainment environments for the interior design of the Princess of Wales Theatre, which was done by Yabu Pushelberg. Other top winners were: M5 Design Group, The Mark Anthony Group; Oleson Worland Architects, City of Toronto's Park & Recreation Department; Taxi Advertising & Design, Metrowerks and LiveWires Design Ltd., Science World. Awards of Merit were also presented: Florino Design, Liquor Control Board of Ontario; Viva Dolan Communications, Butterfield & Robinson; Parallel Strategies, Tourism Yukon; Professor Tom Alloway, Lester Kramas, Dr. Jeff Graham and Greg Wilson, University of Toronto and Mackerel Interactive Multimedia, McClelland and Stewart. The awards are sponsored by Apple Canada.
