Montreal-based Internet media company Branchez-Vous has relauched its news website at <http://www.matin.qc.ca>. The site, formerly known as Matinternet, is now called Branchez-Vous Matin.qc.cq. The site offers daily news drawn from agency feeds and generated by its own newsroom. The homepage consists of short stories presented in the visual style of a blog. The site is aimed at Quebec-based educated adults who do not subscribe to a daily newspaper. "Matin.qc.ca is to traditional news media sites what free newspapers are to traditional daily newspapers," said company CEO Patrick Pierra. "A simple and easy-to-access alternative to learn essential news in a few minutes. While traditional news media publish a lot of stories, few articles are widely read, because working people have only a few minutes per day to stay informed. Our news team chooses the main news items and summarizes them in an efficient and easy to read format. We believe that Branchez-Vous will become the voice of a new independent player in general news coverage." The launch of the new site will be promoted through ads on the Web and on Montreal radio stations.
