By Adnews Staff
IBM Canada of Markham, Ont. introduced two new lines of Ambra computers this week. Called the Ambra Achiever 5000 and High Performance 9000 series, the machines come with MPEG video technology for moving pictures, 8X CD-ROMs and hard drives of up to 3.2 gigabytes capacity. They are loaded with Lotus SmartSuite 96 for Windows 95, which is a combination of programs for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, scheduling, contact management and presentations. The computers also come with five hours per month access to the Internet, for a period of one year, via the IBM Global Network. There are 18 different configurations in the two lines, with more models available for special orders. Print advertising for the new Ambras will begin next month. It is being created by Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto. Ambras are lower-priced machines sold only in Canada.
