Petro-Canada of Mississauga has begun an online public relations initiative called “Pump Talk” intended to address consumer concerns about gasoline prices. The Web-based program is located at <http://www.petro-canada.ca/pumptalk>. The site consists of video clips of company employees answering questions about high gas prices, the reasons that prices rise and fall, the factors that determine the price of gas and ways to minimize gas expenditures. “We understand that consumers are frustrated by the unpredictable nature of gasoline prices,” said Jon Hamilton, director of Downstream Communications. “That frustration is further fueled when they go online looking for simple answers and instead find confusing graphics and highly-technical information on almost every website.” The videos will also be posted on video sharing website YouTube.com with the expectation that bloggers will link to them. The website also offers a page for visitors to leave comments and additional questions to be answered.

Toronto-based online company Sympatico/MSN has launched a new music store. The service is a combination of the existing Sympatico Music Store with a variety of MSN applications related to digital entertainment. The store, located at <http://musicstore.sympatico.msn.ca>, offers streaming and downloadable music, music videos, concert footage, interviews and news. Users can also access the store through MSN Messenger, Windows Live Messenger and MSN Spaces. “With easy and instant links to popular MSN and Windows Live services, the Sympatico/MSN Music Store will transform the way Canadians enjoy online entertainment,” said Gary Anderson, vice-president of portal consumer Internet services at Bell Canada.
