Canoe hires Simpson, Bulgin

Toronto-based online media outlet Canoe has hired Kirk Simpson as account manager of strategic alliances. For the past six years, he has been director of interactive business development at St. Joseph Media, where he worked on brands including Where Magazine, Toronto Life, Wedding Bells, Fashion, Canadian Family and Wish. Prior to that, he was the co-founder of AdventureLifestyle.com. Renee Bulgin has joined Canoe as manager of Web accounts. She spent the last four years as an account manager for the websites of Rogers Consumer Publishing, selling advertising for Chatelaine.com, TodaysParent.com, Flare.com, CanadianBusiness.com and Macleans.ca. Prior to that, she was a Web account manager at Engage Media. Simpson and Bulgin will both begin work on Aug. 8.
