CTV launched a new online service yesterday called the CTV Broadband Network. Visitors to the company’s website at <http://www.ctv.ca> can watch full-length CTV programs divided into four channels. CTV Shows carries programming from CTV's current prime-time schedule, including Corner Gas, Degrassi: The Next Generation, Instant Star and Canadian Idol. CTV News and Documentaries consists of local, national and international news programming, including the CTV National News, local headlines from various stations nationally, hourly highlights from Report on Business, interviews from Canada AM, features from CTV Newsnet, W-Five and various CTV documentaries. Etalk on Broadband offers celebrity entertainment news and interviews. Discovery Channel on CTV carries programming from Daily Planet and Valerie Pringle has Left the Building, among other Discovery shows. Additional programming will be added as the service operates. According to CTV, each 22 minutes of programming will be accompanied by five minutes of unskippable video advertising. “Canadians are leaders in consuming media and the CTV Broadband Network is part one of CTV's answer to their appetite to tap programming on emerging platforms and to provide a solution to the advertisers who want to reach them,” said Bell Globemedia president and CTV CEO Ivan Fecan.
