Ontario government begins car seat campaign

The Government of Ontario has begun an advertising campaign intended to educate parents to recent provincial legislation that requires the use of car safety seats for children under 80 pounds or less than the age of eight. Previously, safety seats were only required for children under forty pounds or under the age of five. The campaign, created by ACLC of Toronto, consists of television, radio, community newspaper and Internet ads. The three TV commercials depict parents diverting their children from potentially dangerous activities, followed by a voiceover saying, “Every parent wants to protect their kids. It’s no different when they’re in the car.” The ads also direct viewers to a toll-free number or a website located at <http://www.ontario.ca/smartlove> for information about the correct installation of car safety seats.
