DECISION CLOSE FOR PET SUPPLY CHAIN

The U.S. pet supply chain Petsmart expects to choose Canadian advertising and public relations agencies this week. Petsmart, which is based in Phoenix, Arizona, has two competitions going. Thre are three unnamed contenders in each review, one for advertising and the other for PR. Petsmart is planning to open 75 to 80 stores across Canada over the next five years, beginning with five outlets this summer in the Toronto area. Along with pet supplies, the chain offers grooming, veterinary services and obedience training. It also has adoption centres. Early last year, Petsmart bought U.S. superstore competitor Petstuff, and closed the chain's four Toronto area outlets. Petsmart operates 250 stores in the U.S.
