NEW TOP MARKETING MAN FOR TAMBRANDS

Tambrands Inc. has a new person overseeing the product push in the United States and Canada. Gary Cooper has been hired as North American marketing vice-president for the maker of feminine hygiene products based in White Plains, New York. Cooper comes from Tetley Inc. where, as marketing vice-president, he headed up coffee and tea businesses and the company's category management program. Cooper has also worked at Procter & Gamble and its subsidiary, Richardson-Vicks Inc. where he was responsible for marketing Oil of Olay skin cream and oversaw the acquisition of Vidal Sassoon and Pantene hair care products. Tambrands is relaunching its flagship line of Tampax tampons next month. They will be available in North America with an applicator that has a smoother high-gloss surface, redesigned package with bold graphics emphasizing the theme, "now better than ever," a more reader friendly package insert and a more durable wrapper. In the U.S., print and TV advertising will begin when the products hit the shelves. In Canada, advertising will begin in December. Advertising for Tambrands is done by BBDO Worldwide of New York.
