White Ribbon begins Algorithm Sickness campaign

White Ribbon, an advocacy group focusing on the prevention of gender-based violence and discrimination, has begun a new campaign called “Algorithm Sickness.” The campaign, developed by Broken Heart Love Affair, is intended to raise awareness of potentially harmful social media content aimed at young men. It consists of social media, digital out-of-home and video executions, as well as a website at <http://www.algorithmsickness.ca>.

“These days, most of us take a backseat on social media and just let our algorithms drive, and that can end up sending us to antisocial, scary or harmful places,” said Marty Hoefkes, creative director at Broken Heart Love Affair. “On top of pushing for change on the platforms themselves, we wanted to show that there are tricks and tools that help you curate a healthier algorithm.”
