Subway begins bowling promotion

Fast food chain Subway Canada has begun a promotion for a new line of jerk-spiced rice bowls. The promotion involves the participation of Toronto Raptors basketball players Scottie Barnes and Chris Boucher. They will appear in an upcoming television commercial in which the two go bowling. The promotion also includes a national contest component called “Canada’s Most Ballin’ Bowler.” The winner will receive a trip to bowl with Barnes and Boucher, as well as tickets to a Raptors game. Until Jan. 17, Consumers can enter by submitting bowling-themed images or videos via Instagram.

“Subway Canada is passionate about bringing Canadians closer to the sports they love,” said Lisa Mazurkewich, head of marketing at Subway Canada. “When we learned that Scottie is an avid bowler and the three-time winner of the Barnes family bowling competition we knew we wanted to highlight his passion for the game and bring an element of fun for Canadians to participate in. We’re excited to continue evolving our menu with tastes that Canadians are after and bring them unique opportunities with some beloved NBA stars.”
