Air Canada conducts Fly the Flag campaign

Air Canada has begun a promotional initiative tied to its support of the Canadian teams at the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The effort includes a Boeing 787 Dreamliner painted with a special livery that will transport the athletes and support staff to China and back. The airline has also released an online video called "Rise Higher" that depicts the work of the athletes in preparation for the games encourages Canadians to support them. It will run on the company's social media pages. Another element will take the form of a series of "virtual experiences" intended to give consumers the impression of being at the games. The company will also conduct a series of online events for members of its Aeroplan loyalty program called "Behind the Games." In addition, the company will collaborate with CBC and Radio-Canada to allow consumers to talk with Canadian athletes live from the games.

"At Air Canada, we are proud to literally 'Fly the Flag' as we transport Team Canada to the 2022 Winter Games and honour their journey to the podium," said Andy Shibata, brand vice-president at Air Canada. "We're also delighted to endorse Olympians as Team Air Canada athlete ambassadors. Their resilience and relentless drive to be the very best in their sport, while embodying Canada’s collective values of diversity, inclusivity, openness, and kindness inspire all of us. We look forward to sharing our athletes' individual journeys and cheering on all members of Team Canada in their pursuit of excellence."
