Nivea begins Human Touch campaign

Beiersdorf Canada of Montreal has begun a campaign for its Nivea line of skin care products called “Care for Human Touch.” The effort is intended to “inspire togetherness and help combat the shadow pandemic of loneliness,” according to the company. The campaign includes a documentary-style video depicting the true story of prematurely-born twins from Hamburg, Germany and how one twin's life was saved by the presence of her sister in the incubator.

As part of the promotion, Nivea Canada will also donate $250,000 to charity Roots of Empathy to support its work in 24 Canadian schools to help children develop empathy and form personal relationships. The funds will be used to train 27 instructors who will teach approximately 1,000 children.

“The shadow pandemic of loneliness is growing into a health crisis beyond our imaginations,” said Julia Geissen, marketing director for Nivea at Beiersdorf Canada. “Nivea has always been a brand dedicated to making people feel good in your skin, by caring for skin and for people. Nivea appreciates the overwhelmingly positive health effects of human touch and is focused on facilitating togetherness once it's safe and allowable to do so. Our wellbeing hinges on restoring tangible human contact.”
