Arts.Film debuts in Montreal

The Montreal-based International Festival of Films on Art has begun a new initiative called Arts.Film. The effort combines a virtual space for webcasting films on art and media, as well as live performances, combined with a subscription-based video-on-demand service. The service offers a collection of approximately 100 films that will be continually updated. Additional programming will consist of live events, performances, event recordings, discussions and related content highlighting Canadian creators. According to the organization, the initiative is unique in Canada. The service will official launch on March 16 at <http://www.arts.film>.

“Arts.Film is a major tool serving audiences throughout Canada, as well as artists and creators,” said Philippe del Drago, executive and artistic director of the festival. “Many organizations, dance and theatre companies and orchestras have created digital content over recent months, stretching the boundaries of their professions. Arts.Film is there to help them put this content online to reach a broad public by putting our expertise to the service of our community.”
