Beer brand Budweiser Canada has begun a contest promotion in association with the Toronto Blue Jays to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the baseball team's back-to-back World Series wins. The promotion, called the "Bud Home Run Contest," includes the participation of retired Blue Jays Joe Carter and Roberto Alomar. Adult recreational league baseball teams and baseball fans can enter the contest via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook by describing why they want Carter and Alomar on their team. The winner will be selected based on creativity, originality, quality and relevance, according to the company. The winner and 19 friends will play baseball, softball or slow-pitch Alomar and Carter on a baseball field in their local community. The contest will close on July 20.
"Adult rec league baseball players across the country get together with friends every week to play ball and maybe even hit a few big home runs," said Mike D'Agostini, director of marketing at Budweiser Canada. "That's why for the 25th anniversary of one of the biggest home runs in Blue Jays history, we want to celebrate baseball across the country with two of the biggest names in the sport for one unforgettable game."
