Subaru Canada readies new rally initiative

Mississauga-based Subaru Canada has begun a new initiative as part of its participation in the 2018 Canadian Rally Championship racing season. The effort will provide financial support to current and upcoming rally racers in Canada. According to the company, the initiative is intended to represent its continued support of the sport, despite the discontinuation of Subaru Rally Team Canada at the end of the 2017 season.
It includes a "Rally Car Purchase Rebate Program" which will provide a rebate of up to $10,000 to licenced race drivers purchasing a new Subaru vehicle for rally use. This component will run from April 2018 to March 2019. Another component is the "Subaru Rally Contingency" sponsorship program, via which registered Subaru rally competitors will be eligible for financial payments for racing, based on participation and performance. Subaru also remains the presenting sponsor of the 2018 CRC season.
"With such a rich rally history, we wanted to find a way to support enthusiasts at the grassroots level," said Subaru Canada president, chairman and CEO Yasushi Enami. "We think these two programs will do exactly that by encouraging more people to get involved in the sport in Canada and helping them keep at it."
