Bell Media to acquire two channels from Corus

Bell Media has entered into an agreement to acquire French-language specialty television channels Séries+ and Historia from Corus Entertainment. Séries+ specializes in locally-produced drama series, while Historia focuses on locally-produced documentaries, reality shows and dramas. The transaction remains subject to approval by the CRTC and the Competition Bureau. It is expected to close in mid-2018. The total value of the transaction is approximately $200 million

"The addition of Séries+ and Historia perfectly complements our broad slate of French-language channels, further enhancing our competitiveness in the vibrant Quebec media landscape," said Randy Lennox, president of Bell Media. "We look forward to taking Séries+ and Historia further than ever before, reinforcing our commitment to invest and grow in Quebec, and delivering even more opportunities for francophone viewers, producers and advertisers."

Bell Media currently operates 10 French-language television channels in Quebec, including Canal D, Canal Vie, Cinépop, Investigation, RDS, RDS Info, RDS2, Super Écran, Vrak and Z.
