Home Hardware conducts SPCA campaign

Retail chain Home Hardware is conducting a campaign in Quebec in association with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Developed by John St., the campaign is timed to coincide with July 1, a traditional day for moving to a new residence in the province. The effort encourages pet owners to "Pack up Your Pets" when they move. According to the society, approximately 1,600 pets are abandoned each year in Quebec. The advertising creative depicts moving boxes shaped to carry pets. Animal boxes are also being used to collect donations at participating Home Hardware locations in the Montreal area.

"Each year, pet abandonments almost triple around July in Montreal, so an initiative like Home Hardware's will help to raise awareness of this issue," said Élise Desaulniers, general manager of the Montreal SPCA.
