Pilots groups conduct Safer Skies campaign

A number of Canadian pilots groups have begun a campaign called "Safer Skies," advocating for changes to current aviation fatigue regulations. The campaign is begin conducted by the Air Canada Pilots Association, the International Air Line Pilots Association, Unifor and Teamsters Canada. It makes use of a website at <http://www.saferskies.ca>, along with a series of online videos, out-of-home, print, and digital advertising, social media activities and a petition that will be delivered to Parliament. The campaign was developed by Spark Advocacy in collaboration with Counsel Public Affairs, FlyPress and Seventyeight Digital.

"Our biggest challenge was to simplify a complicated regulatory issue to make our message crystal clear," said Perry Tsergas, president of Spark Advocacy. "The creative solution was to avoid complex language, imagery or stereotypes and focus on using simple iconography to clearly convey a simple message. For safer skies, pilots need more rest."
