CBC debuts Olympic Games virtual reality app

CBC/Radio-Canada has released a series of virtual reality applications that allow consumers to watch VR coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games through a number of devices. One application allows users to view 360-degree video through a smartphone or tablet, either on its own or with the addition of a cardboard viewer that creates stereoscopic images. Additional software is available for the Oculus Rift or Samsumg Gear VR headsets. The applications can access 23 live streaming video feeds of event coverage, as well as real-time medal standings, schedules, news and event results. Users can also watch the broadcaster's live television coverage of the games via these devices. Visa has signed-on as the exclusive sponsor the the virtual reality Olympic Games application.
