Indigo launches book recommendation app
Indigo Books & Music of Toronto has released a new mobile application called Reco. The software provides users with book recommendations based on information from friends and experts, based on a personal profile. The application also allows users to track, share and discuss the books they are reading via social media services. Users can also purchase books directly from the application. Reco was developed in collaboration with the Toronto-based Kinetic Café. A website promoting the application has been constructed at <http://www.reco.com>.
"Everyone agrees the best book recommendations come from friends, but we all spend too much time reading reviews from strangers and trusting algorithms to tell us what to read next, often with mixed results," said Krishna Nikhil, executive vice-president of print and strategy at Indigo. "Reco solves this problem by bringing personal book recommendations from people you trust right to your mobile device."
