Vancouver Sun debuts new design

Postmedia Network has introduced a new design for the Vancouver Sun as part of it ongoing newspaper redesign initiative. The new design is intended to be "cleaner and fresher," according to the company. As in previous redesigns, the changes include a division of the property into print, web, smartphone and tablet editions, each providing different content to different readers.

The mobile application will provide brief, frequently-updated news items with a focus on social media sharing. The print edition will focus on analysis and local news. The website will specialize in 24-hour coverage of breaking news with video content. The tablet edition will specialize in multimedia presentations.

"The evolution of the Vancouver Sun takes a significant leap forward today as we introduce the sleek redesign for our print edition and website, as well as the new mobile app," said Harold Munro, editor of the Vancouver Sun. "The team and I are confident that readers will enjoy and appreciate the new look and content including the new print section, An Edition of NP in the Vancouver Sun."

The new design will be supported with a three-month advertising campaign called "At Your Fingertips," intended to convey the accessibility of the newspaper's content.
