Alberta environmental agency begins campaign

The Edmonton-based Alberta Environmental Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Agency has begun an out-of-home campaign of public service announcements. During the campaign, the organization will stream real-time air quality health index readings to digital billboards in seven Alberta cities. The readings rate air quality on a scale of one to 10. The campaign encompasses Edmonton, Calgary, Grande Prairie, Medicine Hat, Cold Lake, Lethbridge and Fort McMurray. It will run until the end of March 2016. The media is from Pattison Outdoor Advertising.

"One of AEMERA's goals is to provide environmental data and information to stakeholders and the public in an open, timely and understandable way," said Jay Nagendran, president and CEO of the organization. "Streaming the AQHI in this very public, very prominent way will not only help us to achieve this goal, but it will also provide a very important public service to Albertans. These highly visible and prominent billboards are just one example of how we are fulfilling our mandate to provide open and transparent access to scientific data and information on the condition of Alberta's environment."

The ads will be co-branded with local organizations including the Wood Buffalo Environmental Association, the Lakeland Industry & Community Association, Alberta Capital Airshed, the Calgary Region Airshed Zone, the Palliser Airshed Society, and the Peace Airshed Zone Association.
