SPORTS STARS LEND A HAND TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS

The Canadian Special Olympics launched a campaign this week for its Sport Celebrities Festival running in Toronto on Dec. 4. The campaign uses outdoor, print and TV spots featuring CFL quarterback Doug Flutie and Toronto Raptors' Damon Stoudamire, as well as a toll free pledge line. The Doug Flutie ad features him delivering the football which has the pledge line phone number embroidered in place of the laces along with the tag line: "Doug Flutie Doesn't Hand His Number To Just Anyone." The Damon Stoudamire piece portrays the basketball player's tattoo with the pledge line number shown underneath and the tag line: "Now You Don't Have To Go Through Hoops To Get His Number." The ads were created by J. Walter Thompson of Toronto. The Sports Celebrities Festival is the fundraising arm of the Canadian Special Olympics.
