CANWEST INCREASES STAKE IN NEW ZEALAND NETWORK

Winnipeg-based CanWest Global Communications Corp. will up its stake in TV3 Network of New Zealand to 68% next April. Currently it holds 20% of the company, which it bought in 1991. CanWest took over management of the operation at that time. Since then it has expanded TV3's signal coverage to 97% of New Zealand, up from 80% from when CanWest first bought into the company.
