COMPAQ ENTERS WORKSTATION MARKET

Compaq Computer Corp. is targeting engineering, creative and financial professionals with this week's worldwide release of the Compaq Professional Workstations. The new packages use the Microsoft Windows NT operating system and Intel Pentium Pro processors. The workstations also come with high-end graphics capabilities plus management, integration and networking tools. Compaq has lined up 14 software and hardware vendors to contribute to the workstations. This marks the first time Compaq has released a technical workstation family. To support the systems, Compaq is recruiting specialized value-added resellers, who will be known as Workstation Solution Providers. The release is being promoted in Canada by a national print campaign which will use newspapers and trade publications. Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of New York created the ads. The agency's Toronto office did the media buy.
