Nestle Canada introduces new Smarties packaging

Nestlé Canada has introduced new packaging for its Smarties brand of candy. According to the company, the packaging is "designed to meet shifting consumer landscape" by making portion control more intuitive. The regular Smarties box will now be divided into three compartments, each containing a single portion, according to the company's nutritional criteria. The bagged version of the candy has been replaced with a canister incorporating a lid that can be used to measure out a single serving. The brand's large, hollow figures and related packages will now contain only a single portion of the candy. The new packaging is being promoted with social media activities.

"We are motivated everyday by our nutrition, health and wellness commitments, and within those commitments is our goal to educate consumers and empower them with helpful information and guidance," said Terri Tinella, confectionary president at Nestlé Canada. "These changes are all about giving Canadians the treats they love while empowering them to make informed choices."
