Shaw Communications sponsors MediaSmarts
Shaw Communications has signed-on as a sponsor of MediaSmarts, an Ottawa-based not-for-profit centre for digital and media literacy. Through its sponsorship, Shaw will donate $75,000 to the organization in 2015. MediaSmarts works to provide parents and educators with information to help young people address issues such as online bullying, hate speech, privacy and safety.
"Technology and accessibility have created an exciting digital age for our children and youth, and it's vital they understand the possibilities of growing up in an online world," said Katherine Emberly, vice-president of operations at Shaw. "Our partnership with MediaSmarts helps provide our customers and their families with the tools they need to live their lives online in the smartest and safest way possible."
