Holt Renfrew conducts Douglas Coupland promotion

Retail chain Holt Renfrew has begun a promotion in association with the Royal Ontario Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art and author Douglas Coupland. It takes the form of an installation in downtown Toronto highlighting the upcoming museum exhibit "Douglas Coupland: Everywhere is Anywhere is Anything is Everything." The installation, called "Gumhead," will exist at Hold Renfrew Men from Jan. 15 to March 9. It takes the form of a sculpture of the author's head. Consumers are invited to alter the sculpture by applying chewed gum to it. The store will also feature themed designs in its windows. Another Holt Renfrew location will display "Slogans for the 21st Century" from Coupland on two-story video screens outside the main entrance.
"I love the way art and culture are going in Canada," said Coupland. "The ROM and MOCCA have a wonderful new relationship with Holt Renfrew, and I'm happy to be a part of that. And I'm very curious to see what happens with Gumhead. What a strange and wonderful experience."
The museum exhibit will take place at both institutions from the end of January until late April.
