Metro English Canada launches sales division

Toronto-based Metro English Canada has launched a new sales division called Metro Media Sales. The division will sell print and digital advertising for all Metro properties, as well as some print and digital properties of the Toronto Star and associated publications such as Starweek and The Kit. The division will also provide representation for retail clients in Thestar.com. According to the company, it will focus its efforts on marketers and advertising agencies in large Canadian urban markets.

"Metro Media Sales is well positioned to offer a one-stop shop for marketers to access the audiences of two of Canada's leading news media brands," said Bill McDonald, president and publisher of Metro English Canada. "This new sales team will provide compelling and distinctive marketing solutions designed to meet and exceed our partners' expectations."

Metro English Canada is the business name of Free Daily News Group, which publishes the commuter newspaper Metro in Ottawa, Toronto, London, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver, as well as digital-only editions in Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, Windsor and Victoria. Metro is published in Halifax by Atlantic Free Daily Newspapers, a subsidiary of Free Daily News. Metro is published in Montreal by Les Publications Métropolitaines. Torstar is the majority owner of Free Daily News Group, with a minority interest held by Metro International.
