CLEARNET INTRODUCES BUSINESS SERVICE

Clearnet Communications of Pickering, Ont. launched its business communications services this week. Currently the service runs from Windsor, Ont. to Quebec City. It will be rolled out to Western Canada in 1997. The service is a digital wireless telecommunications system for business that integrates mobile phone, dispatch or group and private call radio, alphanumeric paging and messaging services into a single handset. Clearnet will market the services under the trade name MiKE. Teaser print ads for the service were launched last week. TV was introduced this week, while free-standing inserts and print ads will be launched next week. Radio and direct mail will begin later this month. The ads were created by TAXI Advertising & Design of Toronto. Media Experts of Montreal is doing the media buys and Environics Communications of Toronto is doing PR. Mosaic Direct of Toronto will do direct mail. Mariposa Communications Group Inc. of Toronto handles event management for the company.
